What day is it?

Given the current situation, it seems like most of us are asking what day it is.  I know I am!  I did twice last week and once so far this week.   So, it got me thinking.    If we are unclear as to what day it is, then it seems very clear that now is the time to make some healthy lifestyle changes.  My thought process behind this is simple.

  1. Most studies shows it takes 21 days to change a habit.  Simple enough….comment to a personal health goal, pursue the goal daily, and in 21 days it should become a habit.
  2. If we are not sure what day it is, are we really aware of how much time is passing?  Meaning, we set the health goal, pursue it daily, and before we know it 21 days has passed.
  3. The busy fast paced life that most of us were living is no more.  It’s been replaced by a slower pace and new found time on our hands.  Why not fill it with the time with habits that we have been wanting to change?
  4. Lastly……today is April 9th, 21 days until April is over.  Start today and you start May with a healthy new habit!

There is also the 21/90 rule.  For those of you who aren’t familiar with it, the 21/90 rule basically states that you comment to a personal goal for 21 days and it becomes a habit, maintain it for 90 days and its a lifestyle!  Let’s hope that this current situation ends by mid summer.  That we are able to hug family, spend time with friends, and let the kids play freely with other kids.  And when this happens, when we are living a slower paced life, when the new normal sets in, what will be your healthier lifestyle?

Mine?  Well it’s something I’ve been wanting for a long time.  Appreciate the morning!  I want to wake up earlier and get my workout in.  I started today.  I woke up and completed 20 minutes of yoga!
